Who Does Plant Ecology and Conservation in Canada?*

The CBA/ABC Ecology and Conservation Section brings together members who are interested in plant ecology and conservation. Through our commitment to inclusivity and diversity we welcome anyone who wishes to join us, including students, professionals, and enthusiasts.

The section meets annually at the time of the CBA/ABC Annual Meeting to discuss matters of interest, to plan and generate directions for the year ahead, and to foster communication and collaboration among members. For each CBA/ABC Annual Meeting the section

• organizes a symposium of contributed papers based on a theme developed by members;
• organizes the J Stan Rowe Award for the best student paper in plant ecology, an award established to honour the legacy of this eminent Canadian plant ecologist;
• provides judges for the Lionel Cinq-Mars Award for the best oral presentation by a student and for the Iain and Sylvia Taylor Award for the best poster presented by a student; and
• accepts nominations from members for the CBA/ABC Major Awards before the posted deadlines.

Throughout the year, the section may also produce position papers, promote events, and hold workshops to foster a greater appreciation of ecology and conservation for all those who are interested.
